Oregon

Every year, John goes to a dental conference in Oregon and the boys and I tag along to visit family and friends. This year our trip was quite a bit shorter than usual since John hasn't built up much vacation time yet at the new job (which he loves, by the way). When he first took the new job, we talked about moving but we weren't sure we'd be able to sell our house for a price that we could afford to sell it for. Well, we decided to get it on the market before we left for Oregon (Wednesday) and we had a full price offer before we got back! Seriously crazy. We are set to close June 4th, so that gives us a little extra time to house hunt, but we haven't even seen a house that we would consider a possibility yet. (surprisingly I'm not too panicked yet. I probably should be though...)

So, anyway, Oregon. I got some kid-free shopping time in, spent some time with family, got to go to IKEA with John and got to have a fun date night with some friends (neighbors!) from college - all while my parents ran herd on my crazy children. And just so it doesn't sound like I ignored my children the whole time, we took them to the carousel museum where we got to see all of the carousel animals in various stages of being built/carved/painted. The boys were surprisingly into it, and we spent quite a bit of time there (until Archer threw a gigantic fit because he reallllllly wanted to touch something he wasn't supposed to), and of course they spent a good portion of time tromping around on the farm with Poppa.

On the way home, the boys each got a chalkboard and chalk...not the best idea (for perspective, they were all MUCH messier than this by the time we stopped for a break).
