More Than Gold

We had parent-teacher conferences last week (all 3 boys had awesome conferences!), and B's teacher gave me this:
It says: "My God is worth more than gold because He made all of us. He is the one person who made the world."

The Flock

After many years of deliberating, we finally have chickens! It has taken us a while to commit, but we finally jumped in head first. We ordered some chicks online (split an order with a friend), but they aren't due to arrive until mid-May...and we just happened to be down in OR when one of the stores was giving away 5 free chicks when you bought the chick starter we now have the first five chicks of our little (well, not-so-little in May!) flock!

Even though I grew up on a farm with chickens, I don't really remember what to do, and the responsibility of taking care of them definitely didn't fall to me! Thankfully Preston has been researching like crazy, but next up will be to build a coop and train Ender not to attack them. So far, she is just curious and doesn't seem aggressive towards them, but obviously we aren't about to leave her unsupervised near them! Hopefully she will become a chicken protector, not eater.

Welcome to the family: Goldie, Fluffy, Cubby, Ginger, and Pepper!

Curious pup! Chicks are friends, not food!

No Coats!

Sunny and in the 60's. What else is there to say?!

First Camping Trip of 2015

This weekend was our first camping trip! I am amazed that #1 it is the beginningg of March and we're CAMPING, #2 I didn't freeze, and #3 it was at the ski mountain (and I still didn't freeze)!

It was another warm, sunny weekend for skiing. There are definitely some bare spots starting to show, but they were still able to have a race this weekend. We headed up to the mountain early Saturday morning for Preston to practice, and then today was race day.

I was so proud of him...his first run was 20 seconds faster than his best run last race! He almost wiped out (it was slushy!), but he recovered and went on like nothing had happened (meanwhile I was watching with my heart in my throat!).

There are technically a few weeks left in the season still, but I'm not sure the snow is going to last that long. Everything was such a muddy mess! Ender was so excited that she got to come along, but between her and the kids, the trailer needs a complete wipe down. I guess I know what I'll be doing this week!

1 year

I intended to post this about a month ago, but apparently all my Disneyland posts took priority and I don't think I ever posted it!

It's amazing the difference a year can make! These two have grown so much in a year!
