Hair

My boys have generally always had long hair. Occasionally we have cut it short for summer, but the general consensus is that they like their hair longer. Well...DID like their hair longer.

Apparently that changed recently. Preston decided to give B & Arch haircuts. It was not pretty, and they managed to clog the bathroom drain doing it (because of course they would try to wash the hair down the drain...)

Anyway, we ended the day with mohawks x3. Well technically B's is a "faux-hawk" because he didn't have enough hair left for a traditional mohawk. They love them. I am guessing our long hair days might be over.

In other news, we are going on vacation!! A warm vacation! For 2 weeks!! I'm super excited & ready to get out of the snow, although we still have a little while to wait. At least it gives me something to look forward to.

Snowshoeing

We've been getting tons of snow (is winter over yet?!), and last weekend I talked the boys out of skiing (they love it, I do not), so we decided to take a little snowshoe trip. This was Archer's first time on his own snowshoes...he did really well and loved it, until he tired himself out by (intentionally) falling down every few seconds.

The other "first" of this trip was snowshoeing without a child on my back for the first time in 7 years! It is definitely more enjoyable without 35 lbs of kid attached to you!

After the boys were tired, we headed for hot chocolate (which Archer promptly splattered all over himself), and home for naps (which didn't happen...).

'Staches

A big perk of having a dentist dad is when he brings home treasures! Stick on mustaches are the coolest!

Student of the Month

So proud of my little student of the month! He has had a bit of a difficult time adjusting to classroom life with 24 kids vs. 10 last year...add to that our move right before school started, and a new (relatively) huge school, and he had some pretty good reasons. But, he has pulled out of it and is starting to enjoy school again. The most exciting part of getting student of the month for him was the pizza and cupcakes that he got to have with the principal! :)

Here is what his teacher wrote about him (and he was the only first-grader out of 3 classes!):

"The first grade team selects Preston as student of the month for January.
Preston has an inquiring mind. He demonstrates curiosity about learning and thinks of a variety of ways to solve problems. He explores ideas and articulates his thinking processes. Preston is responsible and determined student. He acts with integrity, honesty, caring, kindness, and respect. He is a friend to all."

Starting the Year Off Right!

Seven years old today.

I can't believe it's been seven years since I became a mom. Seven years ago I held a chunky, long-awaited-15-days-past-his-due-date, easy-going, happy baby. I can hardly recall him crying. At all. He didn't cry when he was born, just looked around and was quiet.

I've fallen behind in my blogging, but I am hopeful that I can do better this year. Especially when the year starts by celebrating the birth of the oldest...it makes it easy to start things off!

We celebrated today with presents, an R2D2 cake, friends, and hot dogs & sweet potatoes. We built lots of Star Wars aircrafts, decorated gingerbread cookies, and played games. Life is good, but it's moving too quickly.
