Oregon

Every year, John goes to a dental conference in Oregon and the boys and I tag along to visit family and friends. This year our trip was quite a bit shorter than usual since John hasn't built up much vacation time yet at the new job (which he loves, by the way). When he first took the new job, we talked about moving but we weren't sure we'd be able to sell our house for a price that we could afford to sell it for. Well, we decided to get it on the market before we left for Oregon (Wednesday) and we had a full price offer before we got back! Seriously crazy. We are set to close June 4th, so that gives us a little extra time to house hunt, but we haven't even seen a house that we would consider a possibility yet. (surprisingly I'm not too panicked yet. I probably should be though...)

So, anyway, Oregon. I got some kid-free shopping time in, spent some time with family, got to go to IKEA with John and got to have a fun date night with some friends (neighbors!) from college - all while my parents ran herd on my crazy children. And just so it doesn't sound like I ignored my children the whole time, we took them to the carousel museum where we got to see all of the carousel animals in various stages of being built/carved/painted. The boys were surprisingly into it, and we spent quite a bit of time there (until Archer threw a gigantic fit because he reallllllly wanted to touch something he wasn't supposed to), and of course they spent a good portion of time tromping around on the farm with Poppa.

On the way home, the boys each got a chalkboard and chalk...not the best idea (for perspective, they were all MUCH messier than this by the time we stopped for a break).

The Beach

It is no secret that I love warm weather, but N. Idaho has been seriously disappointing me lately. We had one beautiful (almost warm) day, and now we're back to occasional snow, rain, and COLD. I've been dreaming of a nice warm tropical island vacation, but I'm pretty sure this is as close as I'm going to get:

(that is me on the beach, according to the artist. The sun is above the clouds because the moisture from the ocean is going to go up into the clouds and then come back down as rain. Not sure how I feel about rain on my beach vacation. I hope the umbrella works for sun and rain!)

100 Days

It's hard to believe, but my boys have been in school 100 days. Preston's class has been counting every day, anticipating their 100 Day Party. Yesterday was finally the day.
Preston had to do a 100 Day project, which basically was just to display 100 of something (he decided to do fusible beads, which turns out are a little hard to count...).
To top off the excitement of the day, he got to stay for a full day! This was a huge deal for him. His school has an all day kindergarten option, and most of the kids stay for a full day. Every day when I pick him up, he begs to stay for a full day. I finally gave in and said he could do it for one day...to which he replied "okay, so after I stay all day for the 100 Day Party, I get to stay all day every day right?" ummm no.
When I picked him up at school yesterday, I asked him if staying all day was as good as he thought it would be. His response: "It was so much better than I even thought!"

Project: beads. So glad Bryton & Archer were sleeping while we did this!

100 Day Glasses...he's such a goofball. (and he edited these pictures!)

Snowshoeing

One of the winter activities that I actually enjoy is snowshoeing. I will never enjoy it enough to actually LIKE winter, but I guess it lessens the blow a little. Sunday morning we woke up to lots of fresh snow, with more coming down, and decided to go snowshoeing. This was B's first time on snowshoes (last winter he rode in the ergo), and he did really well...when he wanted to. He actually preferred falling in the snow which was both cute and annoying since we had to haul him up to his feet most of the time. I'm looking forward to next year when hopefully all 3 boys will be on their own snowshoes!

I have about a million things left to blog about, but I just can't seem to find the time. I was sick for pretty much a full week (miserable) and then woke up this morning with swollen eyelids and a rash on my forehead! Random and seriously uncomfortable. John had to cancel some patients to run the boys to and from school thanks to the Benadryl that was making me loopy. Now I'm realllly hoping for a nap this afternoon...

QOTD

"That makes me want to throw this penny in your eye!" -Preston, in the midst of a temper tantrum.
