First Camping Trip of 2013

I kinda thought we would be all camped out after our 3+ months of camping last summer, but the boys had been begging to go camping again so we decided to go for a couple of nights this weekend.

Our camping trip started off a little rocky...I was stressed at having to do all the prep work alone while being responsible for 3 little people (John had meetings until late Thurs night), and when we went to leave bright and early Friday morning - hoping to beat the holiday crowd - our trailer lights didn't work due to a blown fuse. I was ready to throw in the towel, but John and the boys persevered! We left a couple of hours late, but when we got to our destination we were the only ones there! We had our pick of spots and chose our favorite spot that we spent 3-4 weeks at last summer. We ended up having the campground almost entirely to ourselves (except for another family who had a couple of kids for the boys to play with).

The weather wasn't spectacular, but we had one day of beautiful weather. The boys got to fish a lot, and Preston caught a nice trout. We played lots of baseball, made balloon animals and swords, played badminton, and played lots of UNO. The boys spent a lot of time biking, and even Arch perfected the art of riding his balance bike with a cast. And I even read a book!

All in all, a good first camping trip of the year! We had initially planned to stay until tomorrow, but the weather was looking pretty sketchy (it started raining about 2 minutes into our drive home) and we decided to come home so we could have time to get some things done tomorrow.
